Welcome to my travel journals! Here you can read all about this traveling terrier’s real-life adventures on the road. From my first
cross-country journey (The Grand Tour, as I like to call it) to weekends spent relaxing at historic,
dog-friendly hotels and inns, I chronicle all my U.S. road trips here.

When my Very Important People decided to make a lengthy road trip across the U.S.A., I insisted on traveling in comfort and style. No cramped space in the rear seat of a station wagon or SUV for this literary terrier, no sirreee. For my Grand Tour, I insisted on the best – a Class C Fleetwood Jamboree. That´s a large, somewhat awkward-looking mode of transport known more generally as a "recreational vehicle" or RV. Imagine, my young friends, cruising down the highway in what is essentially a mobile house – your supper dish and bed and window seat all just a few bounces away from each other! (Of course, I wasn´t supposed to be actually bouncing while the RV was in motion…) Let´s get started!
Given my busy writing schedule and frequent public appearances these days, I can’t afford to take too many four-month RV vacations anymore. I’m always up for shorter road trips and weekend getaways, though, especially when there are plenty of dog-friendly restaurants and cultural or tourist attractions to explore! Read on to see where I’ve been lately…
A NOTE FROM MY EDITOR: Chaucer´s original cross-country road trip was written with his youngest fans in mind. Hence this normally proper terrier´s silly jokes and the frequent vocabulary lessons in The Grand Tour travelogue. Still, we´re confident these early entries contain plenty to interest anyone curious about the regions of the country we visited by RV!
