Please Paws for a Special Announcement from Chaucer!!

My Publishers and I have just launched the Second Annual BARK FOR BOOKS! Campaign to benefit the children of deployed and wounded soldiers. For every copy of my delightful little book Learning Is Cool… It’s the First Day of School! that is sold in the month of July, we will donate one copy of the book to a child entering kindergarten or first grade this fall while a beloved parent is away serving our country!

I have 100 books sitting here next to my little schoolhouse desk and two fresh inkpads with which to paw-tograph them. Please help us meet our goal of donating all 100 copies by spreading the word far and wide to anyone you know who might be interested in purchasing my humble literary effort for a child, grandchild, baby shower, library, or classroom!

The book is available from Amazon and by special order at most bookstores – and also directly from us here at Canterbury Tails Books! (If you order from us, I may even be persuaded to paw-tograph your copy for you….) We even have a toll-free number here at the office: (877) 716-4492. If you get a very nice person’s voicemail when you call, it means everyone here is busy chasing an inky-pawed terrier around the office and we will call you right back!

Thank you for taking the time to read my special announcement.

Happy tails to you,
Chaucer the Dog

…dog lovers, travelers, and kids of all ages! I´m Chaucer, a real-life wire-hair fox terrier. I´m so pleased you´ve wandered on over to my redesigned and expanded website.

KIDS… Check out my travelogues (that´s a fancy word for travel diary) by clicking the "On the Road Again" link above. Here you can read all about my adventures – from the four months I spent larkin´ and barkin´ across the U.S.A. in a big house on wheels to my latest exciting excursions exploring this great country of ours. I have plenty of silly pictures and entertaining stories to share with you (plus a few science experiments that involve fun ingredients like mud and ice cream).

ANYONE TRAVELING WITH A DOG… Whether you prefer the RV lifestyle or historic B&Bs when taking a road trip, I invite you to "Paws Awhile" at my travel resource section. I´ve been searching the land for dog-friendly hotels and inns, dog-friendly restaurants – even dog-friendly tourist attractions, historical sites and museums, and national parks. I´ve also included my delightfully insightful reviews of the kennels and dog resorts I´ve boarded at around the country.

Don´t see any entries for the city you´re planning to visit?! Check back soon as this section will receive regular updates. Or use the "Talk to Me!" link on most pages to send me your own recommendations of dog-friendly lodgings, restaurants, and activities!

TEACHERS AND PARENTS… My travelogues contain plenty of educational sidebars for my younger readers. And as we launch my new books, the Chaucer in the Classroom Series, I will be expanding that section of my site. We plan to offer comprehensive listings of kid-safe online resources to supplement classroom study of the places I visit and the topics in my books.

A word about my less fortunate friends… Click on the “Chaucer Friends” box at right to read more about our efforts to assist homeless dogs and cats through the animal-rescue group SPARE – and how you can help.

Now, pack your bags and let´s start exploring America!
